Every child deserves a loving, healthy family
POLAND ADOPTION PROCESS AND FEES
- A family decides that they wish to adopt from Poland.
- The family contacts Lutheran Service Society of New York for an application.
- LSS of NY works with the family to locate a licensed agency to conduct the home study investigation (if the family is not is WNY).
- The family signs agreement forms for LSS of NY.
- The family completes the home study process and the home study agency sends the home study to LSS of NY for review and to ensure it is “Poland and Hague Convention-ready”.
- The family, with assistance from LSS of NY, completes the I-800A application and submits with home study to USCIS.
- The family submits complete dossier LSS of NY and the referral process begins.
- Once a referral is identified, the social worker and couple are notified and provided with all information received, including photographs
- Once a referral is accepted, the couple completes the referral acceptance letter.
- The family awaits notification to travel for their first trip
- The family travels to Poland for 4-5 days,
- The family receives documents needed to submit I-800
- The family, with assistance from LSS of NY, completes the I800 application and submits to USCIS for provisional approval
- Upon receipt of I-800 provisional approval, family notifies LSS of NY and sends copy of approval. LSS of NY informs Poland of the approval and the court is petitioned.
- Family completes DS-230 and send s with fee to Poland.
- Family is informed of court date, bonding period and departure date.
- Family travels to Poland to bond with the child and complete the adoption.
- Upon returning home, post adoption reports are due at 3, 6 and 12 months.
